Chana Jamison, Board Certified Music Therapist, Music Instructor

Chana Jamison is a Board Certified Music Therapist from the Bronx, NY. She also takes pride in her Jamaican roots, often infusing the dynamic rhythms of her heritage into her practice. She finds her passion in working with both senior citizens and children. Throughout her formative years, she nurtured her musical spirit, harmonizing in choirs and taking roles in plays. In 2016, as a sophomore at Howard University in Washington, DC she began teaching voice, piano, and guitar lessons at a local music school, public schools, and senior centers throughout the Maryland and DC metropolitan area. Once Chana completed her internships at Howard University Speech Pathology Clinic and Francis Fughs Early Childhood Center in Beltsville, Maryland, she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy and Jazz Voice Studies. Shortly after, she obtained her license to practice. Chana then began her work as a Music Therapist: facilitating Songwriting Workshops with Adolescent Psychiatry patients at Children's National Hospital (independently and with the Ryan Seacrest Foundation), and working with private practices, schools, daycares, nursing homes, and senior centers throughout the DC and NYC areas. She also serves as a Remote Practicum and Internship Supervisor to undergraduate students at her Alma Mater. Chana’s most cherished experience as a musician was singing background vocals for Patti Labelle at The Gershwin Prize for Popular Music Award show. Her goal as a Music Therapist is to help expand and diversify Music Therapy’s reach to populations who are in high need of these resources.
